Clapham Therapist and Counsellor Sinthia Baxter – Introduction

Clapham Therapist and Integrative Counsellor

I orignally have business management background, however always interested in psychology which i studied for a while some 30 years ago. I had a car accident in 2008 and while recovering from my injuries I prequalified as a counsellor, University Diploma in Integrative Counselling. Attended many further courses, workshops and continuous training for working with couples, families and individuals. Also trained as a trainer delivering counselling courses to counsellors.

This hopefully brings some reassurance to my client that I am working not only ethically but taking my professional development seriously and do not stop further educating myself in order to help them even more. I believe that there is always more to learn and take my work seriously with a sense of humour when appropriate – my clients and I often laugh as well as go through their difficult times together…

I am in a process of BACP accreditation as we speak, I am already on their accredited register and i the next two months I will fines my highest level of their membership. I adhere to their ethics and guidelines.

Psychological Therapy and Consulting Experience

I have been providing psychological therapies to dozens of patients within NHS sector and still work there once per week taking referrals directly from the consultants who I work closely with.

I am passionate about helping others as I know too well how challenging it is to feel fragile and alone at times – something which I myself experienced through my time of accident recovery… so speak to me today by calling 07464 327 249 or send me a message via my Contact Form.

Weekly Counselling Support

Weekly Counselling Support

I found this counselling as made me still alive. I was going through a lot for the past few years. Without Sinthia I don’t know how I would cope with it.
I’m glad that I’m having my weekly session as Sinthia has supported me so much.
It’s the most helpful session and I’m glad that I’m getting this facilities.
Sinthia is very supportive and being towards her patient.

I Didn’t Want Counselling

I didn’t want counselling, I didn’t need it, yes some bad things had happened but I had a solid marriage and supportive friends.  However, the consultant I was seeing at the time for balance issues pretty much told me I had to go.

Even after the first few visits I was still sceptical.

Then one visit I realised that was I was doing was thinking out loud and I was surprised by what I had to say.  I had never been able to vocalise these feelings before.  Sinthia never pushed me or judged me, but listened to what I had to say and offered some insights.

The problems don’t go away, but they do become more manageable and understandable.  It’s also given my husband and friends a break from listening to me melt down!

What Therapy Means To Me

“Therapy helps me to see clearly what I want and what the issues in my life really are.  It is a journey of self discovery.  I have had so much rejection in life it was easy to think there must be something wrong with me.  Sinthia has helped me see that this isn’t true and deep down I now believe this.  It is sometimes uncomfortable but always worthwhile.”
I hope this is OK and don’t mind if you use my name or not.

Therapy As Seen Around The World

Over in America Lydiana Garcia sums it up perfectly:

A Complicated Journey

I like to think of life as a very interesting journey that keeps unfolding every day. It is like an adventure filled with ups, downs, uncertainty, joy, and sorrow. There are times when this journey gets very complicated and overwhelming. In times like this, we can feel lonely, confused, overwhelmed, desperate, angry and many more feelings that allude to negative states of mind. It can get so “bad” that it starts impacting our daily living (i.e. work, relationships, hobbies) and we can start questioning: who am I? why I’m here? where am I going? I know, because I have been there, done that.

Counselling to Encourage Change and Handle Stress

What I can tell you is that change is inevitable and things do not state the same forever. Change does not always means good, but at least it gives me hope that it would not stay like how it is Right Now. I also believe that each and every one of you have the key to the answers to these difficulties. But I also know how hard it can be to find the keys. That is why I strongly suggest reaching out for help.  Therapy could be one of the ways you could use to find these keys.

There are many different therapists and ways to conduct therapy. The importance is for you to find the right match, according to your values, style and personality. I would like to extend you the opportunity to getting to know me and to determine whether I could be a good match for you.

You can accept or reject the way you are treated by other people, but until you heal the wounds of your past, you will continue to bleed. You can bandage the bleeding with food, with alcohol, with drugs, with work, with cigarettes, with sex, but eventually, it will all ooze through and stain your life. You must find the strength to open the wounds, stick your hands inside, pull out the core of the pain that is holding you in your past, the memories, and make peace with them”  Iyanla Vanzant
